Introduction: Serotonin syndrome is a potentially life-threatening drug reaction caused by excessive serotonergic activity in the central and peripheral nervous systems. It typically occurs when two or more medications that increase serotonin levels are administered concurrently, leading to a triad of altered mental status, autonomic hyperactivity, and neuromuscular abnormalities. A. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) presents with similar symptoms, such as fever and agitation; however, it is associated with dopamine antagonists (antipsychotics) rather than serotonergic agents. NMS is also characterized by "lead-pipe" muscle rigidity, whereas serotonin syndrome is associated with tremors, hyperreflexia, and clonus. B.
